That isn't the case.
A 'memory stick' here is neither a 'memory card' nor a 'memory chip'. 'Memory sticks' are external USB storage devices which are not product-specific (a 'flash drive', if you wish)
Yes, I figured already these are called memory sticks in the UK whereas they are called something different here. And memory stick is an archaic term... here. The term memory stick was used very briefly (here) to describe a Sony product. Once those no longer became a proprietary format (way back in 1999!
) they began to be commonly known (here!) as a memory chip or memory card. And again, to add to the crazy confusion, a memory card is also something completely different than what would go into my S5, even though many here refer to them as such!
The fact that here "memory sticks" are known as memory cards also goes to show, like a flash drive, generic terminology is bandied around to describe SSD storage. Now, we have 3 products that do the same thing: flash drives, memory cards and memory sticks. However, each one - aside from what we feel comfortable calling them - is different. That is my point ATM. :-)
