New Zealand has just relaxed its visa rules to allow remote working for people on a visitor visa.

Andy is quite correct. I'm in New Zealand at present, and there has been quite a lot of official publicity about this change. I think it just legalises what was already happening -if you are a foreign visitor doing work via the internet for a foreign client who would know anyway. I've been in this situation often enough in my own travels when my employer has needed me to do something whilst out of the office. But for anyone interested the NZ Ministry of Internal Affairs has posted this advice in the last week:
www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/preparing-a-visa-application/working-in-nz/working-remotely-in-new-zealand-on-a-visitor-visa.
Note that this applies only to visitors applying for a visa after January 27, not to those whose applications arrived earlier or to those already in New Zealand as visitors.
