For people who have never been to Sri Lanka at all, is there anything that needs special attention, such as certain habits of the locals, festivals and taboos and the like. I once entered an Islamic community during a trip and had some bad memories because I didn't understand their customs.

I’m not sure how my post is breaking forum rules. I was simply suggesting a few areas based on my local knowledge, without any personal gain.
The message about a post potentially breaking the forum rules replaces the post to which it applies - it does not apply to the thread. It's then manually reviewed by one of the responsible moderators, who can simply reinstate the original post if the flag was mistakenly applied.
I didn't see when that message was there, but I'm assuming it was placed on one of the now deleted posts (#7 or #2/#3), with those posts almost certainly being promotional and/or AI-slop, both of which are strictly prohibited on this forum. Unless one of those posts was yours, the message does not apply to you.

Hi, I am thinking of going to Sri Lanka the beginning of September and would love to know what the weather is like then? And what places are best to visit, any info would be great! Thank you
Hey,
I’m not sure how my post is breaking forum rules. I was simply suggesting a few areas based on my local knowledge, without any personal gain.
By the way, Sri Lanka is an island paradise, offering plenty of amazing experiences if you’re planning a visit in September.
I would consider it to be 'self promotion"
