Hi all im wondering if anyone can clear up a few thongs for me on the gov website it says under 11 do need need to test on arrival to the uk and then om the other hand it says amber arrivals under 4 do not need to be tested its so confusing

The gov.uk website makes it pretty clear:
"What you must do if you have been in an amber country or territory in the 10 days before you arrive in England. ... Children aged 4 and under do not need to take the day 2 or day 8 test."
Your 10 day quarantine at home includes everyone, and everyone aged 5 and over needs to take the tests.
Note that it's not on arrival, it's to be done at home on those two days during your quarantine.

Not really. It's just a matter of reading the specific rules for arrival from red, amber and green countries.

Also note that you must book and pay for those days 2 & 8 tests in advance of arrival.

I did read it but it also states somewhere else on the government website that children age 11 and under and no required to take tests, thanks for the replying
The only mention I can find of the age 11 is saying they aren't required to wear masks.

I think you have read this page

but you did not read the information in the large side-bar on the same page (under 'Return to the UK') which very clearly states:

If you’re entering England, there are different rules depending on if you’ve travelled from a country or territory on the:
red list
amber list
green list
and then gives this link:

If you will be/are considering visiting an amber-listed country you must abide by the relevant rules: complete a passenger locator form and a test before return travel (only children under 4 are exempted) plus pre-book & pre-pay for tests (only under-4s exempted) on days 2 and 8 of the 10-day mandatory quarantine.
If you are considering travel to an amber-listed country do make absolutely sure that your travel & health insurance will still be valid.

Perfect thankyou., i have booked all that we need im was just unsure on the children situation but i think i may of made sense of it under 11s dont know to be tested on return to the uk but they must take day 2-8 tests if there over four

It really isn't very clear so, if it was me, I'd double-check the requirements with my travel provider (e.g. travel agent, travel company, airline) well before my return date. Rules can and do change quickly and you don't want to turn up at the airport only to be denied boarding.
Do check with your travel/health insurance providers that a) your insurance will remain valid in an amber-listed country and b) that it will remain valid if the country is moved to the red list. You really don't want to be stuck abroad with no health or travel insurance cover, especially with children.
Yes this is the thing it isn't very clear ive spoken to my airline and they advice me to look on the gov website and i havent had any contact yet from on the beach and yes I've got insurance for us all that covers covid thankfully, ive got everything booked just hadn't booked the children's day 2-8 test

It's not a matter of covering you for Covid. The vast, vast majority of travel insurances will now do that.
It's a matter of covering you for travel to and health in a country which is amber-listed.
The government has clearly stated:

In normal circumstances, when the UK gov advises against all or all but essential travel to a country most ordinary travel & health insurance policies are automatically invalidated. The gov has stated that people should not travel to amber-listed countries therefore I strongly advise you to contact your insurer and double-check that the policy remains valid for amber-listed countries. Also check that it will still cover you if the country's status changes to red when you are still there.
