Hubby and i are spending two weeks touring Vietnam with Family in December 2025, then heading to Singapore to join a cruise that ends in Bali on January 15.
Any suggestions for:
1. Scenic mode of travel and/or itinerary to get from VN to Singapore (we have up to 5 days for this transfer)
2. Where would you stay for up to 10 days after arriving in Bali? We read that the weather is not great in Bali in January and are open to moving to elsewhere in Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand before heading home to Canada by end of January. We are flexible to move around and are interested in staying places with beautiful views and is a good base for day trips. Our budget would be low to moderate.
thanks kindly for any and all suggestions!

Hi.
From Vietnam you could fly to Thailand and spend some time there. Keep in mind that you will probably need confirmed flights out of Thailand to Singapore if you do. Thailand is an easy country to visit.
Bangkok alone is larger than all of Singapore. (And, for me, Thailand is cheaper too, even during high season!)
What to do after Bali?
Unless your cruise includes Malaysia, you could visit there.
Pull up a map of this area. Lots of islands! Hope you like boats.
You have time to work your trip out. Check visa requirements for each country.
Good luck.

One possibility, among many: Fly to Bangkok (BKK or DMK), then travel by the train to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

With limited time, you also could fly to Penang (PEN) instead of Kuala Lumpur (KUL), then fly to Singapore (SIN).
If you tire of Bali, you could fly to Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores. LBJ is the gateway to Komodo National Park.

Not many people know this but you can take a boat from Vietnam up the river to Cambodia and they have a border crossing there, if you want adventure. Then overland to Siem Reap!
