I think that also the information about the visa should change , because since the new rules of the schengen visa , i don't know to much about it but for example te type visa D + C had been abolished and also the type B .

Since then it is easier for the people for example who had the doudt about te type D ( i had that doudt ) that before april they had to have a visa type D + C for free acces to all schengen area but now only with the D type u also have acces to all the states members of Schengen aerea, am posting this concern because at the bigining i was reading the Shengen visa link u have over there , but i also did a new post concerned about it and well , as u know the rules changed so will be good for every one if that information in that link changes with the new update about the schengen visa rules changed in april of 2010.

Best Regards.
;)

>Is not clear to me what is going to happen if ETIAS starts working and at the same time I arrive in Spain with my approved visa.

ETIAS is a visa waiver for tourists. It is not specific to Spain: it is being put into place by all EU countries:

https://ec.europa.eu/home-affairs/what-we-do/policies/borders-and-visas/smart-borders/etias_en

This isn't a big deal. ETIAS is the same as the US ESTA and Canadian ETA that, for years, e.g. UK and EU citizens have had to complete online before travel.

You will be travelling on a Schengen student visa so you will not be affected by the ETIAS requirement.

Your wife is a Canadian citizen. Unless she has a Schengen visa she will have to complete the ETIAS before travel. Canadian citizens without Schengen visas can only stay in the Schengen Area for a maximum of 90 days in any 180 day period. When the 90 days are up they must leave the Schengen Area for a period of 180 days. Overstaying the 90-in-180 day rule is a very bad idea: it can lead to a fine and/or being completely banned from re-entering the Schengen Area.
