I am unable to input some of my destinations into my travel maps. The cities show on the website map but they do not show up in the drop-down menu when I type them in for me to add them to my itinerary. There is also no way of just selecting the destinations by clicking the map (which would be the easiest thing to do) and hitting the enter key after typing the destination doesn't work either. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I seem to recall there being a different provider for the placenames in the dropdown, than for the map, which would explain this. Still, I would expect any actual city to cause a hit. Could you name some examples of cities which didn't give you results in the dropdown? Could you simply have had a typo in what you typed?

The workaround when you can't find a place is to pick any nearby city which does give a result, and then in the next step click-drag the resulting location icon until it's in the proper position, manually changing its name to what you want it to be. This also allows you to go down to street level and really precisely position it. (But I acknowledge that that's not intuitive when you're stuck without any dropdown results in the previous step.)

Here's the full step by step instructions on adding custom locations to the map

Yes, the autocomplete is quite separate to the locations shown when rendering the map (which can even be different between one map style and another). We use a small subset of very popular locations which will come back quickly and then a longer list of locations which should cover anywhere significant. But small differences in spelling could definitely upset that or the location might just not be significant enough to be coming back in the results. Then the workaround is to add a custom location as above.

One of the places I tried to type in was Salem, Oregon. I would expect this to show up as it is a state capital. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way to move the map marker to the correct position, at least not for the default map. I did eventually try opening the site up in another browser, this did give Salem as an option in the dropdown.

Salem, Oregon definitely should be popping up. Any city of that size should be. A possibility is that there was a network issue when doing the autocomplete. Either on your end or on our end. Or maybe there is a bug with specific browsers. What browser were using when it didn't work?

Moving the marker is possible if you do it directly after adding a location. You can't go back into a location and edit it. The article I linked above goes through it step by step.

I was using Brave but switched over to Safari - no problems with Salem showing up with Safari. I didn't try moving the marker until after locking the location in, which explains why that didn't work. All seems to be working fine using Safari so I'll stick with that browser for now. Many thanks for the help, everyone.
