Four weeks in Ecuador and Colombia

Hi there,

I'm planning a month in Ecuador and Colombia this summer.

I'm currently two days over - as in, I need to cut 2 days from this itinerary from the first two weeks. Any advice would be massively appreciated! Any other general feedback similarly so for any of the choices I've made below. I'm particularly finding it hard to choose which beaches we should visit / base ourselves at for Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona and Cartagena.

6 - To Quito, to Otavalo
7 - Otavalo full day (Laguna de Cuicocha day hike)
8 - Otavalo to Ibarra (30 mins) to Tulcan (2 hours) to Ipiales (border crossing) to Pasto
9 - Pasto to Popayan to San Agustin
10 - San Agustin full day 1
11 - San Agustin full day 2
12 - To Cali
13 - Cali full day
14 - To Salento
15 - Salento (Valle de Cocora) full day 1
16 - Salento (Valle de Cocora) full day 2
17 - Arrive in Bogota, meet my girlfriend (this date is non movable)
18 - Bogota full day
19 - To Villa de Leyva
20 - To Barichara
21 - Barichara to Guane, to San Gil to Santa Marta night bus
22 - Santa Marta full day 1
23 - Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona full day 1
24 - Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona full day 2
25 - To Cartagena
26 - Cartagena full day 1 (Isla Baru – Playa Blanca?)
27 - Cartagena full day 2
28 - To Medellin (flight)

30 - Medellin – Guatape day trip

Suggest you maintain flexibility, particularly if you plan to use public transportation to get to where you want to go. As you travel you might encounter situations that require you to adjust your itinerary.
