Your question makes no sense...

Travelling solo is absolutely fabulous and countless people do it all the time. If you're an inexperienced traveller or you're just too nervous to go it alone then it's easy to meet loads of people in the very same situation and hook up with them, no big deal.

Considering being a "third wheel" as a option is truly puzzling... why in the world would you ever choose to be an unwanted travel partner?

Cheers,
Terry

If you're worried about traveling solo, why not arrive at your destination as a "third wheel". Then once you're there and feeling more comfortable, you can make a decision to travel on your own or stick with the couple. In my experience, it's easier to meet new people when you're around people you know. Maybe you'll find the perfect travel partner(s) that way.

Well, traveling alone is much better because it will give you time for yourself however, if you're an inexperienced traveler especially visiting other countries for the first time... it's better to travel with friends or buddies...

Really? Even as a "third wheel?" I don't get that.

To each their own.

Go it alone!
You may lea ve home alone but won't stay solo for long. It sounds like you're inexperienced and understandably scared. I was there just a short time ago and I'll tell you. Just get going! You will find travel partners along the way as well as you will discover what really fulfills YOU as you travel. Just stay away from hotels that tend to be very isolating. Go to hostels and guest houses where there is a common area. There you are likely to meet people you may travel with or at least get interesting tips and information about the places where they've been. Hostel staff may also be a good source of places to go and things to do.
Happy travels!

I really appreciate all your thoughts. I guess I would need to be more brave and travel solo. We'll be posting soon my very first travel alone.

You don't need to be brave, simply chose a destination (like Thailand, etc.) that is full of new and inexperienced people in exactly the same boat as you are and it's easy to hook-up with travel buddies.

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry
