Properly editing Wikis

I have been adding to several wiki pages in the last few weeks after reading several tutorials on the subject, even played around for a bit in the sandbox to practice. I need a tip or 2 from the pros here at TP.

It seems there are always several very minor edits, involving, say +5 or -5 spaces, performed after I add content to the wiki.

There is some minor mistake I keep making and I cannot figure out how to remedy it. On one occasion, Utrecht made a note about an extra space I was using in my links, so I was made aware of that specific error for future edits and I thank him very much for noting that. Since then, I have been aware of that mistake, but feel there is something else I keep missing....

I know I can compare versions of the current wiki against what I have contributed, but it just appears as if sections have moved up or down a few spaces - to my rookie eye, it doesn't tell me much.

Right now, it seems these are very minor mistakes, but I wish to learn the correct way. If my edits alert a page error or something similar to admin, I feel bad someone has to go back in and clean up my mess.

Here are some the pages I have contributed to: Mexico; Mexico City; New Mexico; Quintana Roo; Yucatan. If someone could look into the history of those edits, compare versions and then tell me what I need to do, I would appreciate the help.

The pattern I immediately notice being edited all the time by Utrecht is you including extra linebreaks in lists, which turns a single semantic "list" with many items, into lots of lists each with only one item.

So you seem to have written:

* [b]Papadzules[/b] are a classic Mayan dish from the Yucatan Peninsula consisting of rolled corn tortillas, similar to enchiladas. Papadzules are filled with hard boiled eggs, covered in a spicy tomato sauce and dipped in a thick sauce made from ground pumpkin seeds.

* [b]Panuchos[/b] consist of corn masa that has been cooked until slightly puffy. It is then slit open and stuffed with refried beans, sealed and fried again. It is then topped with pickled onions, avocado, shredded chicken or turkey and chopped cabbage.

* [b]Salbutes[/b] are identical to a panucho except not stuffed with refried beans. Traditionally these are served with shredded turkey as the meat topping.

but it should be:

Another case is including an additional linebreak after a heading. You seem to have written:

(Here the semantics don't really matter, so the way you write it isn't particularly "wrong"; but the extra linebreak is unnecessary, and since the rest of the guide has a consistent pattern without, it'd be good for new edits to adhere to that pattern.)

Do these things appear likely? (It's theoretically possible that you intend to write the latter case each time, but that there's a technical reason why it comes out on the system as the former.)

I certainly thank you for digging into it and including my examples, prior to the spacing being removed by Utrecht. I wondered why using a bulleted list did not appear as a bulleted list in edit mode.

I indeed have been adding in the line breaks manually while in edit.
