Hi There

We're travelling to Madrid in mid-August and want to visit San Sebastian while in Spain.
We are looking for information on which train station we need to depart from in Madrid and arrive at Donostia/San Sebastion. Can't seem to locate a train station there.

Appreciate any assistance, thank you.

Just look at the official Spanish railway website (in English)!

https://www.renfe.com/es/en

Choose 'MADRID (TODAS)' ...which means 'Madrid all stations'....and 'SAN SEBASTIÁN/DONOSTIA'.

When you choose your date & departure time you'll see which Madrid station to leave from.

Just put 'San Sebastian/Donostia railway station' into google, click 'search' then click 'Maps'. You'll see exactly where the station is!

You can check for Donostia, the name of San Sebastian in the Basque language. AVE trains from Madrid will leave from Chamartin station.

Hi. Trains to San Sebastián (and to all cities in the North of Spain) leave from Chamartín Train Station. However, they are not AVE trains, which means that they are not so fast. Trip will last 4 or 5 hours.

Once you are in the North you may also visit Bilbao, Santander, Pamplona and other interesting cities.

Hi Sergio

Thank you for your reply, I think we'll fly as it's alot quicker and will allow us more time.

I also recommend you to visit some towns which are not far from San Sebastián (Guipúzcoa province) and are quite beautiful and interesting. They are Tolosa, Azpeitia, Orio and Zumaia, among others. To almost all of them, you can go either by bus por by short-distance train.

Thank you for your recommendation, Sergio, I have made a note of the places you have mentioned.
