Hi All,
Me and my other half have been planning a trip around Asia, Australia and New Zealand for Autumn/Winter 2022
With the world reopening slowly we are considering booking our flights and accommodation etc. However we feel a bit hesitate to do so with all this covid drama, especially with the requirements changing for covid tests and isolation.
How is everyone's experience with this?
Is it too soon to go ?
Thank you x

Hi,
trouble is that no one is able to foresee the future. Two weeks ago we were all still optimistic and now the fourth wave has hit my country with full force and infection rates are higher than ever. We all hope for the best but who knows...
Nevertheless, planning is fun, and sitting at home staring at the news "like a rabbit at a snake" (saying in my language) can't be the right thing either. Whatever you do, though, check out the cancellation policies of your airlines, hotels etcetera, and don't book anything that cannot be changed or cancelled without losing too much money. Keep things as flexible as possible. Hotel booking sites often allow free cancellation until a deadline close to your travel date or even the very day of arrival. Flights are a different story, I understand that these should be booked in time. But still, airlines have different policies that are worth comparing.

I think Australia should be reasonably safe to plan for from early next year. The cat is out of the bag here and there is a pretty strong feeling that we just need to fully open up to vaccinated travellers now. I don't think we will go back to lockdowns next year.
The only thing that may change that is if some new super deadly, vaccination resistant variant that emerges.
Not really sure what the latest is from NZ. I'd probably guess they aren't far behind.
Asia is a big place and restrictions will vary wildly between places. China is I'd say pretty risky as they still seem keen on lockdowns. Indonesia on the other hand is pretty keen to have people back. So totally depends which countries you have in mind.
Personally, I'm just looking at domestic travel next year.

Hi All
Thank you for getting back to me.
So the initial plan was to go to Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. Within 4-5 months.
I will be taking a career break from work (fingers crossed) and my other half will be resigning from his job. We both have been vaccinated and getting a booster jab in the next few months.
A part of me is telling me to wait until 2023 for the travel industry to regain it's confidence, but then again how long will we have to wait ! Don't want to waste money on all of the PCR and lateral flow tests and isolating ourselves to every destination we get to.
But then actually things are rapidly changing all the time but we need to book in advance and need to get my career break approved!
Has everyone started traveling yet? Will things ever get normal again?

The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expressed that the flow circumstance in India puts even completely inoculated voyagers at the danger of getting and spreading the infection. Henceforth, all movement to India ought to be kept away from. On the off chance that anybody should go to India, they ought to be completely immunized before movement. Also, all voyagers need to wear a veil, keep away from swarms, clean up and keep up with social removing.
Regardless of whether you had effectively reserved your tickets before the movement boycott, you won't be permitted to travel and you will get discounts from carriers. There are exclusions to the movement restriction from India to the U.S. provided that you have a place with the accompanying classifications:
US residents or long-lasting inhabitants and their mates
Helpful laborers
Writers and academicians
Understudies who need to begin their classes throughout the fall meeting
In case you are absolved, you actually need to adhere to specific guidelines while going to the US. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) necessitates that all explorers should have confirmation of a COVID-19 negative test outcome not over 3 days before appearance. It would be regardless of their immunization status. After appearance, they would need to step through one more examination inside 3-5 days and go through self-quarantine.

Elena980, the original poster didn't mention India on their list of destinations!
Suszek75, I think it's a gamble. While we definitely seem to be in the recovery stage, a trip visiting multiple countries runs a risk of disruption - any of them could have a political decision to limit travel.
I've also got my eye on Australia and New Zealand for the end of 2022 and I'm a) definitely not booking anything yet, and b) think it's more than 50% likelihood that we'll postpone the idea for another year.
As well as thinking about what's possible, there's also the question of how much less fun it will be with restrictions, things closed, things with limited opening / needing prebooked, people scared of interaction.
