Me and my other half have been planning a trip around Asia, Australia and New Zealand for Autumn/Winter 2022
With the world reopening slowly we are considering booking our flights and accommodation etc. However we feel a bit hesitate to do so with all this covid drama, especially with the requirements changing for covid tests and isolation.
How is everyone's experience with this?
Is it too soon to go ?

trouble is that no one is able to foresee the future. Two weeks ago we were all still optimistic and now the fourth wave has hit my country with full force and infection rates are higher than ever. We all hope for the best but who knows...
Nevertheless, planning is fun, and sitting at home staring at the news "like a rabbit at a snake" (saying in my language) can't be the right thing either. Whatever you do, though, check out the cancellation policies of your airlines, hotels etcetera, and don't book anything that cannot be changed or cancelled without losing too much money. Keep things as flexible as possible. Hotel booking sites often allow free cancellation until a deadline close to your travel date or even the very day of arrival. Flights are a different story, I understand that these should be booked in time. But still, airlines have different policies that are worth comparing.
I think Australia should be reasonably safe to plan for from early next year. The cat is out of the bag here and there is a pretty strong feeling that we just need to fully open up to vaccinated travellers now. I don't think we will go back to lockdowns next year.
The only thing that may change that is if some new super deadly, vaccination resistant variant that emerges.
Not really sure what the latest is from NZ. I'd probably guess they aren't far behind.
Asia is a big place and restrictions will vary wildly between places. China is I'd say pretty risky as they still seem keen on lockdowns. Indonesia on the other hand is pretty keen to have people back. So totally depends which countries you have in mind.
Personally, I'm just looking at domestic travel next year.

Suszek75, I think it's a gamble. While we definitely seem to be in the recovery stage, a trip visiting multiple countries runs a risk of disruption - any of them could have a political decision to limit travel.
I've also got my eye on Australia and New Zealand for the end of 2022 and I'm a) definitely not booking anything yet, and b) think it's more than 50% likelihood that we'll postpone the idea for another year.
As well as thinking about what's possible, there's also the question of how much less fun it will be with restrictions, things closed, things with limited opening / needing prebooked, people scared of interaction.
