Hi, could people maybe throw the threads flagged as spam away?
The first page of Asia forum looks like one big spam bomb now. Really, there needs to be done something, like ideas mentioned before. First time poster...spam....=blocked.

It's that time of the year again: too much spam on all the forums. Why is it always the Dutch that seem to get most upset about this, btw? Probably the weather 
Anyhow, I was wondering whether this would be a good time to bump 'improve spam handling' nearer to the top of the to-do list. I would really like it if:
- threads of which the first post is spam were hidden from public view altogether from the moment they're flagged
- the 'spam'-flag on threads that contain a single spam-flagged message are no longer visible to the public, but only to the mods
- first-time posters cannot post URLs
- double-posting of the exact same string of text were blocked

I like the Dutch, blunt and straight to the point. 
I hate spam though. Saw the Asia spam stuff, looks nasty alright. Especially for first time visitors, puts them off.
No url'ing in the first 10 messages would be nice. Maybe a caption on all new members forum posts reminding them of that would help too. Otherwise you'd be getting 1001 questions about not being able to post a url.

Rumor has it the threads will be removed once someone has finished his lunch and found the crowbar of deletion. 
That's a false rumour. Actually, except for a couple of 'special' ones that need extra attention, the rest have been taken care of before that someone went for lunch.

I am sorry, but the one is still there and off the same spammer in Europe forum as well, almost 24 hours old.
I have to be honest here: it is quite irritating to say the least, both the spamming and the time it takes to delete those posts. Also, I like Niels' idea about the posts not being visible anymore for the public after spam.

I know this is obviously not the case for the wiki spam nor the 2 older flags in Europe, but...
In the past, and I don't think this has changed (or at least not dramatically), it takes about 30 minutes for the system to inactivate someone who has posted 2 or more spams and that only occurs after the posts have been flagged. So, there are times when flagged threads are allowed to sit for a bit to ensure inactivation. Again, this does not apply to the threads mentioned above.
I am one who has been a bit too quick in hitting delete at times - cleaning up shortly after being posted/flagged and not allowing the system to do it's thing. Granted, the posts are gone but the member has not been inactivated.
