planning a trip:
nyc->rio->amazon->galapagos->machu picchu->salar de uyuni->easter island->panguipulli->santiago->havana
does this make sense? where should i stay? how do i fly between these places? HELP PLEASE!!
South America and Cuba Trip...so bad at planning...HELP!

Only you can answer that question when you give no clue whatsoever regarding your budget or how much time you have, not to mention interests, likes/dislikes, travel experience, etc.
2.) "... where should i stay?..."
Most people - depending on their budget - stay at hotels or hostels when travelling. This is obvious, no?
3.) "... how do i fly between these places?..."
Start Googling or talk to a Travel Agent.
4.) "... HELP PLEASE!!..."
Almost every place you mention is a famous tourist centre. There is LOADS of information about all those destinations on the internet and in guide books, they're not difficult to research.
