Hi.
I am looking for tips to an good underwater house for a Canon EOS 600d DSLR camera.
Need it if I am to dive while traveling to a tropical climate.
I do have some cheap SJ4000 (GoPro clone) cameras I can use if not.
Underwater camera housing
Originally I had a film camera (back in 1968) which was in a plexiglass housing. Then I got an actual dive camera (film) c 1998. Now I just have a regular underwater digital camera an Olympus Stylus Tough-8010. Doesn't need a housing. That's old now - you can probably get a better one.

My wife uses that Olympus Tough 8010. It's an excellent point-and-shoot camera for underwater and it'll shoot video too. She used that on the Maldives.
I bought a Dicapac waterproof case for my Canon, it looks like a plastic bag but it's said to be usable for diving and snorkeling. I haven't used it in open water yet (only a bathtub test) I'm going to try it out with my older 100D spare camera on my trip down under so I can give you a full review in oktober
These kind of cases are the cheapest option but there are lots of other options
e.g. Nauticam has hardcases for Canon DSLR

Testing with an older camera first, or even with no camera, is a good idea. A friend of mine put her iPhone in a new, untested "waterproof" case and plunged into the ocean. She immediately discovered that the case wasn't actually waterproof, and later that an iPhone once immersed in sea water has no residual value.

Hmmmm, interesting.
I ran a search for the brand and model
for used cameras on a sell/buy website and got some good offers.
I found a Olympus Stylus tough TG 850 for 100 USD.,
I might spring for a used one.
I bought 2 used Canon EOS 600d a while back.
Works good.
Looking at some reviews now:

The manual of those thing state you have to try first with toilet paper before putting your stuff in there (bathtub test), there's Always the possibility that something went wrong in production
Or that she didn't do it right. I would think that such a test would be the only sensible way to proceed.
