Anyone who is involved with a research project dealing with online communities, travel websites, and/or related topics, please contact the Administrators of Travellerspoint to request permission before starting a thread containing a link to your questionaire..

If your project is genuine in nature, requesting permission to post the link helps keep spam to a minimum, and will likely increase the number of respondents. Travellerspoint was designed to give members a place to request and receive information about travel, not aid in a class project. That does not mean questionaires can't be posted, but gaining permission to do so is the correct approach. Those who do not make the request may find their thread edited or deleted without notice.

Thank you.

I am doing a dissertation on backpacking in South Africa and am looking for respondents who have been backpacking in South Africa in the last six months I have a survey I would like to email to willing participants containing questions regarding activities and levels of satisfaction. Would it be possible to use travellers point as a means of getting the email addresses of willing participants?

Are you asking for a list of Travellerspoint member email addresses? In that case a definite NO!

If you want to post one thread asking for people to contact you who are interested in helping you with your dissertation, that shouldn't be a problem, but please send through the exact details using the Contact form at the bottom of every page on this site. Keep in mind that most people will not just give out their email addresses for something like this in this day and age, so your response is likely to be low. It might also serve as a guideline that we ran a prize trip for two months across the entire site (ie. very widely published!) which included a flight to Dubai and a weeks stay for one lucky winner as part of someone's research and even with all of that, it only totalled roughly 1000 respondents! For one request on a forum page, I wouldn't expect more than a handful at tops.
