Hi Everyone,
I'm planning a trip to Riosucio soon (the one in Choco, not Caldas) and was wondering if anyone who has been to the area could recommend some villages I could access by boat from there. Looking for somewhere with interesting nature and/or culture that I can reach within a few hours from Riosucio. Any suggestions of villages, or advice for getting around by boat on the Atrato would be a lot of help! Thanks!!

Hi.

Perhaps you should visit your State Department or Foreign Office website (or equivalent) for safety concerns. Then decide!

"Country Summary: Violent crime, such as homicide, assault, and armed robbery, is widespread. Organized criminal activities, such as extortion, robbery, and kidnapping, are common in some areas. Terrorist groups and criminal organizations continue operating and carrying out attacks in Colombia.

Will you be traveling with family?

(Just an opinion.)

Up to you.

I’ve been living in Colombia for the last 6 months and have always felt totally safe. Generally those statistics apply to people who get involved in organised crime here.
