hi,
I am new to the forum, so apologies if I am skipping some obvious netiquette! :)

I am planning a trip to Indonesia over Christmas and was thinking about the East of the country (Maluku Islands and West Papua) to avoid the worst of the monsoon season.

Can you advice on:

  1. Getting there. I'd like to skip Jakarta and fly from e.g. from Singapore/Bangkok to the Maluku, but I can't find a route to do that
  2. Weather. What's the weather like in Maluku/Papua in Dec/Jan? Some sites say that it is the dry season, other site say it's July/August
