Late to the party here but I'd absolutely choose Italy. While I've many, many more corners of the country yet to explore, what I've been fortunate to have experienced so far has been utterly fascinating. History, architecture, culture, art.... OMG the ART. I pretty much lost my mind over the art, most specifically in Florence.

In addition, the sheer age of some of the places my feet have wandered made a huge impression on this traveler from a country where extant remains of similar eras are so very rare. Leics, a long walk on the Appia Antica, eh? A favorite day I hope to repeat with additional look-sees along the way.

Sally, I could have put money on your choice! :O)

Olivia, interesting that you chose Dubai as, according to your profile, you already live there so the UAE isn't a different country choice as requested by the OP. ????

Ah, Switzerland would be my dream, especially in winter! I’m living in Dubai, where it’s hot and dry all year round, and I want my soul to be wrapped in snow

I would choose France. So much culture, weather to my liking and providing you speak french nice people all around. Good public transportation system means car should not be the first (and expensive) concern. France is a relatively short hop away from other EU countries too which facilitates let's say short weekend trips abroad. Good food and drinking, too.
