It’s pretty interesting to see how the travel industry intersects with other fields, like tech.
What's your take on this startup idea?

Hi.
For years, it is rare that I have gone to a travel agency to purchase a flight when at home. I use my computer (tech) for purchasing my long distance flights. I use my computer for research for the "see and do" type things for first time visits to new countries. I use my computer to compare prices from booking hotels directly to what may be available from a trusted hotel booking website. I use my computer for researching transportation available at New destinations.
For returning to places I have been to before I may use the same hotel again because I am familiar with the area. I have used simple emails for reserving a room from home and paying when I arrive. *They know me and trust that I will do what I say - show up and pay!
- While overseas, I use my computer to even pay bills at home using my bank's "Bill Pay" function and even see if my retirement checks showed up on time.
Tech is here to stay in one way or another.

I am old enough that I traveled a lot before there were computers. When a travel agent had to know about hotels and train times and when you actually had to go to the train station or travel agency to make a reservation. I know how to read a paper map (I was talking to someone yesterday who said she went to Vermont and had to use a paper map because the mountains cut off the GPS satellites, and she had never had to do that before). We did have phones, but most people did not make long distance calls. Things are a little too easy now.
Before there was written history, the history was in the stories of the elder people in the tribe. When we started writing things down, our tribal memories declined. We didn't need to memorize that stuff anymore - it was written down.
Now that we have calculators, we don't need to memoriae the nines table anymore - the calculator can do it - quicker than we could. Now that we have spell check, we don't need to know how to spell.
But we still do need to know these things. Storms can cut off the electricity. Technology is fragile.
That travel planning idea is kinda cool. I can relate to the struggle of finding authentic experiences when traveling. A while back, I went to Italy, and I felt lost trying to sift through all the info online. I ended up hiring a local to guide me around, and it transformed my trip. They showed me hidden gems and gave me insights I would have never found on my own.
There is an art to using the tech.
