Backing up photos

I travel with a small computer so put the photos on that and then save them onto an external hard drive and again onto a thumb (USB) drive. I can easily take 1.5 to 3 GB of pictures a day so have a fairly large thumb drive (USB).

I have some photos on Shutterfly but these are put on after going home and used for various projects like books and slide shows. I guess they could serve as a backup too and you might want to look at something like that IF YOU HAVE WIFI available on your trip.

As mentioned above, be sure you can charge all your devices. They won't do you any good if they aren't charged.

Assuming that your are going on a 5 days to a week cruise in the Galapagos, you will,do close to 1000 photos lol. Wildlife and scenery are just amazing.
If you shoot in RAW your photo instead of jpeg, then having a thumb drive won’t be big enough for storage. You best bet us to have an external hard drive. But that if you shot your photo in RAW format.
Backing up photo on the cloud is good when you have a good internet connection and that won’t be possible on a cruise.
Another option is to take several HD cards or whatever your camera memory card uses and change them every day or other day. The cost of a memory cards depends on the type of camera you are using and how big memory card and speed you want. If you plan to use more than 1 memroey card on your trip then you can have a low storage at a low cost.
Enjoy Galapagos, my favourite are the blue footed Booby. I’ll go back just for them. But I was there before digital camera so can’t share my photos electronically (yet)
