Itinerary advice -

My husband and I will be flying into Seville on the 10th June next year. We have 3 weeks in which 2 will be spent in Spain and 1 in Switzerland. We are planning to spend 2-3 days in each city (travelling by train to each destination - except between the 2 countries).

Here is our plan - just asking for advice/suggestions on timeframes and must see things where we are visiting. Pretty much all of the places we are visiting are touristy but we don't have much time to head off the beaten track so to speak and we do wish to visit these places.

Seville (2 days) - Madrid (3 days) - San Sebastian (3 days) - Barcelona (3 days) - Geneva (2 days) - Lucerne (3 days) - Zurich (3 days)

San Sebastian is a long way out of your way and I found little there to justify it.

I would have another day in Madrid, a day side trip to Toledo, and another day in Barcelona (pickpocket capital of Europe, so be careful).

Possibly knock a day off Zurich or Geneva and take a day coach trip to Ronda, from Seville?

In Luzerne you have a nice city centre, but make certain to make a day roundtrip to the Pilatus mountain. (First by boat, then funicular uphill, then cable car back down to Luzerne. A great day!)

Having been to both Zurich and Lucerne, my personal opinion is you do not need several days in each- In fact, unless you're looking for a "city" trip I wouldn't go to either (although Lucerne is really nice) and I'd head more south to Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen area. We love it there- And always take visitors there and it's a jawdroppingly (not a word, I know) beautiful area. Zurich is more of a financial hub and has lots to offer with museums and restaurants but if you're wanting the "Switzerland" you see on TV and magazines, you might want to consider heading more south. Enjoy- It's my favorite place!!

Swiss cities are small and can be visited in 1-2 days each. The most beautiful places to enjoy nature not far from the cities you mentioned are the area around the 4-Cantons Lake in Luzern, the Bernese Oberland (Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen/Grindelwald/Kandersteg), the Gruyeres region and of course the Alps regions in the southern cantons (Wallis with Zermatt, Val d'Anniviers & Val d'Herens; Graubunden with St. Moritz for example) but these are a little bit far from the cities (although Switzerland is a small country and travelling by train or road relatively fast).
