Title typo: Should be East or West - can moderator fix?

Thinking about heading off soon and thinking India. Previously done Mumbai to Kolkata up around the north. So now thinking maybe Mumbai south round to Chennai or maybe Kolkata south to Chennai (and maybe on south a bit further).

I mainly visit temples & historic sites (forts, stepwells, havelis, etc.) and wildlife stuff. Not interested in beaches nor nightlife stuff and food for me is just energy to do things. Travel solo with just a vague direction on local buses, low end hotels, booking moving on when finished somewhere (ie seen this town so decide where next and book bus there and book a hotel online). No time constraints in that it takes as long as it takes always talking to locals and others finding places of interest, etc.

Do people think I'd find more on the east side or west side? Anything specific "not to miss"?

Thanks
Ian

Alas, no, that's not an ability we have.

Is it worth my reposting and asking this one be deleted or is the question obvious enough?

Thanks
Ian

I'd say it's obvious enough.

I've traveled extensively throughout India (see my TP maps and photos). India is diverse. North, South, East, West ... it's all different. I visited India last year and I'm headed back in March. One suggestion: Try the tribal areas in Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

My struggle is having done some research there do seem some interesting places but I'm wondering if they will be different enough from the range of places across the north. I do consider the climate impact of flying so have to justify the trip as different and worth and enough for several months travel to justify the pollution impact.

I enjoyed the north except I was finding perpetual attempts at scams wearing. Easy to spot but internal sign and "not again".

In the West you have Gir National Park, where you can see lions
