Hello,

My aim in travel is to search or see weird and unknown places in cities of the world. So it's incluses things like unusual statues/sculptures, unusual museums or places in a city that had an importance in a city but unknown by tourists. Some cool story about the city interested me too.
I search that resumed in a guide for lots of cities of the world (or in a continent).

Just know that I have the atlas obscura and it isn't very informative for cities I believe.
Series as "500 hidden secrets of..." is too much for me because it is concentrate in one city (and I can't go in the 500 places) and often talked about restaurants, where to sleep... that I don't research.

In France, we have a book called "étranges escales" (strange places) in which the author described unusual places by cities (8 in total) and there is a hundred of hidden wonders introduced.

I hope this principle exist for cities but in english and with more unusual/weird places.

What do you recommand me ?

I look for free or low cost things that are somewhat off the beaten track - there used to be a category in Virtual Tourst with that title. Unfortunately VT no longer exists except on the Wayback machine.

I dont get my hints from a specific book. But in the USA, I am a big fan of the AAA tour books which gives the information on things to visit including some very obscure places. Unfortunately the internet has mostly made these books obsolete

Hi.

When I use my big screen computer I entered your "guide about weird and unknown places in cities" I get quite a few links to look over. This is a free source of almost immediate help. Just refine the search for your particular destination of choice.

Up to you.

Hi there!

For something a little different from the usual city guides, I'd recommend checking out unusualplaces.org It's a great resource for discovering hidden gems across the globe, from strange landmarks to lesser-known museums and quirky spots with fascinating backstories. The site focuses on just the kind of places you're describing—unusual and often unknown to tourists.

Also, since you're already familiar with Atlas Obscura, it might still be worth exploring some of their deeper entries for specific cities. While it may vary from place to place, they often highlight spots with great historical or cultural significance that are off most travelers' radar.

Also I love roadtripamerica.com

Between these three, you should be able to find plenty of weird and wonderful destinations for your next adventure.
