Well hello everyone. Something new to announce today!

We've always been very committed to running this as a free site, with the costs supported through other things like accommodation bookings. And for 14 years we've done just that. But I think the time has come to provide a way for members to show their love financially if they feel so inclined.

And so now you can become a Travellerspoint Supporting Member.

The cost is $3/month or $30/year. As a thank you if you sign up, you'll receive the following:

  • An ad-free experience on Travellerspoint
  • No ads on your Travellerspoint blogs

But wait, there's more

  • A nifty little badge that shows on your profile (see my profile here)

Down the track, there might be a few other things added in for the supporters. I do really want to ensure that Travellerspoint remains a free experience, so any features added into this are likely to be non-essential.

You can sign up as a Supporting Member through this page.

Is that 30 dollars Canadian, Australian, NZ, US, Singapore, Hong Kong?
Is there a mechanism to cancel the ongoing subscription?
You request a card number - how secure is that?

It's US$, unless you are Australian resident in which case you need to switch to that for tax reasons and the price changes to roughly equivalent in Australian dollars + GST which needs to be charged in this instance. I'll make that currency more clear.

Yes, you can cancel at any time. There is a link to cancel as soon as you've set it up. I can process refunds if need be, but you'd need to get in touch with me to organise that as it's not part of the interface.

The processing is done by Stripe and is very secure, more on that here if you have any questions.

Thanks for that.

I often wonder why so many countries called their currencies 'Dollar' - lack of imagination perhaps, or just to add to the confusion.

The Canadian Dollar coin is called the Loony - very apt.

Hi Peter,

Usually when I see an announcement like this, I have an internal groan. But not in this case - I love the idea. Travellerspoint is a fantastic site, and I've had nothing but good experiences with it over the years. If my token financial support can help to keep it that way, then sign me up for that badge!! (Once I get home, that is...)

Love your work

Only just seeing this posting... interestingly, selecting "community/highlights" from within maps takes me here, but not selecting from the home page.

I'm delighted to pay for a year's membership! I've been delighted to be able to keep track of my world travels within TravellersPoint, and have always appreciated your quick responses to any issues I have raised!

Thank you,

Ross
