what are 10 difficulties travellers faced during journey

1. Inaccurate and out-of-date information. e.g. I spent an entire very hot day walking round bus station offices in Trujillo (Peru) trying to get a bus ticket then finding that the services listed on one travel web site just don't exist ... so on to the next company to find the same ... (several other examples before I completely gave-up on the site as even for famous tourist sites it was often just wrong).

Some specialist travel sites are horrendously inaccurate and out-of-date to the point where you are best avoiding them.

2. Camera gear: Having adequate gear for the range of photographic opportunities. So far I've been going with a small light camera but on increasing numbers of occasions I'm really missing longer lenses and better quality.

3. Anti-theft: I've never had anything stolen but I'm always unsure what to carry with me and what to leave in my room. I guess there is no right answer.

4. 30 day visas: They seem common but for me 30 days in a country has never been anywhere near enough. Sometimes you can just move and on and return but I also hate travelling through places I've already visited.

And in no particular order:
5. Finding vegetarian restaurants

6. Hostels booked through booking.com that don't exist when you get there

7. Taking days-off (even though I travel for long trips 4+ months a trip) I still find myself too "driven" to keep seeing, moving, seeing, etc..

8. Having the right clothes & footwear for different climates (from lowland deserts then up to high Andes visiting glaciers).

9. Tour trips that include a 2hr lunch break at a restaurant of their choice (as often "tours" are a good way to get cheap travel where public transport options are limited - take the tour and on arrival just ask what time they leave and abandon the "tour").

10. Getting an understanding local SIM cards. Not a massive issue but it can take time (e.g. countries where SIMs to foreigners are regulated e.g. Thailand or Bolivia). Not difficult but can take time.

The above all said, I regard most of the "difficulties" as part of travelling and they provide opportunities to observe, meet and talk to locals and better understand the country e.g. several hrs in offices of Government mobile operator in Bolivia was fascinating chatting to Bolivians waiting and queuing and that you are there alone, no other foreigners around seems to make them very happy to chat.

I've not been to India so can't make country specific suggestions but one general thought is don't take too much stuff. You see gap years lugging around 60L and it's madness. I use a 40L pack (carry-on size) and a small shoulder bag (max 10L) and neither are full and a 2nd pair of shoes takes much of the pack and I go for longer trips (beyond a few days and you are sorting washing underway whatever so too many clothes is really no help). And it makes everything so much easier. Carry on on any flights (and I'd have missed connections before with checked luggage), walking bus station to hostel, getting in and out of taxis, etc., etc.

I'm sure I saw another post asking about 10/20 traveller difficulties a couple of days ago. It contained a link so was quickly removed.

It certainly looks like a spam setup rather than a genuine traveller asking for help.

I am with you on that. My most recent example was in Poland last year according to the website once a week Łazienki Palace was suppose to have free entry. We thought great we will be there on that day save a bit of money, we get there and turns out they changed the free entry day but didn't bother updating the website

Another thing that is also annoying is when key information is left out. The worst was when we visited Bled and I read up on the boat to take you to the island. All the websites and blogs left out one key detail. They take a minimum of eight people. So unless you are with a tour it is pretty hard to get a boat Had we known we would have planned things differently so it was pretty annoying.

People who spam, just like those who make scam phone calls, simply don't have that sort of conscience.
