I am planning a trip this spring and I am wondering if the cost of traveling in Greece has dropped since their economy died? If this is true I might be a good guy and drop some bucks there and save a little money at the same time.
Is Greece Cheaper now?
I went to mainland Greece last September. The cities were just as expensive as normal (I went to Thessaloniki). Fuel prices are high. The beach resorts were quite cheap though. Depends where you go, but don't expect a megal cheap deal.
However they DO need your tourism so definitely go if you can 
Nice to know that I am not the only who had this thoughts. But I wouldn't phrase it this way, "since their economy died."
But I like the way you put it, people can do good by dropping some bucks. But yeah, I read it here, that things have not change. So what are they so upset about. I should be protesting, coz I will always have a weaker currency.
I went to Greece in March of last year, when the crisis was just starting. They were very happy to see foreign tourists, and some of the stores, where you can bargain, will be willing to give you a great deal. On the other hand, there are a lot of strikes- including a taxi driver strike when I was on Crete- which might affect your travel. Greeks are so friendly, though- even though the taxi driver was on strike, he directed me how to get to my hotel (which wasn't that far away).
I live in Greece right now. Been here since September. It's not cheaper because of the economical crise. And as madopoet says, there is A LOT of strikes, all the time here! The metro, the busses.. I would recommand you not to go to Athen. They are VERY angry now :p
No it's not, we were just there in late September. Such an amazing place but sadly, nothing has gotten cheaper. The only way that's going to happen is if they are no longer in the EU I think!
I am planning to go to Athens in December and am a little nervous about how unstable it seems...bummer to know that it is not cheaper! Is there any way to get from the airport to town if there are strikes?
There is a subway line that runs to the airport, so getting to the town center, even if there is a taxi strike, should be no problem. The center is fairly compact, so getting around to the sites is not that hard, just walking.
Athens is amazing! You shouldn't miss it.

If you are planning on taking a car, take note of the toll booths - they are plenty and pretty expensive, in accordance with the high fuel prices.
When I was in Athens, on the day of my flight, there was a massive public transportation strike - buses, trains even taxis. Luckily I was too lazy to return my car when I got to the city, so I was spared that mess - but everybody else had to get to the airport 5-6 hours earlier, on the last buses of the passing day. So check ahead for strikes (:

the economy has not died nor the hope yet, all are rumours of the speculators...do not listen to bullshit. greece will remain an expensive country if will be still in Euro...you can find good deals at shops (clothes, shoes) and cheap hotels. check booking.com
also plenty of bars in th centre with beer 5 euros and drink 7-8 euros...
the coffee can be taken out with cheap price, 1-2.5 euros but in a sitting place would be much more, 2.5-4.5 euros.
The cost of transportation is good if you stay one month in Greece, you can have a monthly card for all the means (metro, tram, bus, trolley, suburban) for 45 euros only. a weekly ticket is only 14 euros.
you can enjoy the sun even in winter and a nice walk in Acropolis area and Plaka (the district under Acropolis). Thanks for your money, and good savings...AN ATHENIAN
