Thank you all. I agree!
Travelling to US with a criminal record in the UK
Happy to know that you gets through the customs without anything, telling from a personal experience. One of my friend's friend had the same problem like you but the only thing different was that he was going from USA to the UK and he don't know how but somehow the custom knew about his criminal record and to clarify he wasn't a criminal it was just a minor misbehave charge and you guys won't believe the custom held him for almost 3 hours without any reason and the only thing the said was that he is in their suspicious peoples list. That's why I'm happy for you. Have a great visit in the US.

We 'guys' will certainly believe it, though I'd note that this thread is about US entry.
I'm not sure why you are surprised by your friend's friend's experience?
The UK border officers obviously had a good reason to double-check your 'friend's friend', regardless of what he may have said to his friends.....
It's important to remember that border officers in any country have the absolute right to hold and question anyone who wishes to enter their country. They can do so for a specific reason, because they're suspicious or simply at random.

I am not 'mocking' you.
Your profile suggests you have travelled quite widely outside the US so I'm not sure why you were surprised by your friend's friend's (reported) experience?

Edit: I understand you point that I shouldn't be surprised by that experience but, for some reason I can't tell the whole story so Either you believe me that I'm surprised by that encounter or not it's up to you. But yes that encounter was really surprising for me.

No judgment at all. The US does have access to international criminal records, and during the visa application or entry process, they may check your criminal history. Even for a short stay, they can deny entry based on past offenses, depending on the nature of the crime. It's best to be honest in your application or when asked.
This is a bit misleading.
It's also responding to the original post from 18 years ago (with "No judgment at all" to the original "Please don't judge me"), so I somewhat doubt there's a real person behind it (@steward, please prove me wrong?). Unfortunately it's too short for useful AI-detection, otherwise I'd flag it.
