Hi guys!
I will visit Malaysia and am looking for advice on some must-see places/ food and useful apps (if any) that provide specific instructions to move around by bus/ train in Kuala Lumpur. How many hours would be ideal to visits to Batu Caves and Petronas Twin Towers? Is there any other sights/ cities close to KL (apart from Malacca) that i can spend for 1 extra day? Plus, how safe is it for a solo female traveller in KL and Malacca (anything to beware of)? Any opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I did Petronas Towers in couple hours (including getting there by a public transport). The day I've visited wasn't busy and did not have to queue for long or anything.

Looking at your profile, are you asking for yourself or someone else?

Safe enough for a female tourist providing she is not drinking alcohol in public. If she gets stupid drunk or looks like she should be at a beach or hotel pool vs a public sidewalk someone may make comments. If she has a habit of inviting up random people up to her room there could be some danger there.

I like walking the city.

I really like Malaysia.
It's a really nice and interesting mix of Malay, Indian, Chinese and Western, but don't forget it's an Islamic country.
Food-wise, have a look at Mark Wiens YouTube channel.
Also have a read of this ; https://www.travellerspoint.com/guide/Malaysia/

Hi karazyal, about your question, a colleague of mine has been concerned about his daughter's upcoming trip (which will take place before mine) to Malaysia due to mixed opinions upon safety, so i'm asking in his favor. Anyway, thanks for the advice!

Thank Andrew Mack for your recommendation. I have looked through the channel and already found some appealing food options to add to my list.

Malaysia is absolutely safe. Visit Petronas in the morning on a week day to avoid rush and long waiting. Batu caves at the most need a few hours , may be 3 to 4. For other sites check tripadvisor. Enjoy your stay.

Penang is around 4 or 5 hours from KL. I kind of like Penang and it is cheaper than KL.

Being a cheapskate one of my cheap survival foods is fried rice.

(You can tell the cook to leave stuff out that you do not like.)

Provided she knows what's necessary in Islamic countries she shouldn't have any safety issues.
Although even that isn't necessary everywhere, some places it is.
I'd suggest she stays away from the north east where occasionally Islamic 'tensions' rise in the fishing villages.
