Hello,
I am a french photographer dude looking to start into underwater photography for fun.
I can have the equipment and also have the "on the paper" basis...
Would like to try to do snorkelling underwater photography but the thing is....where and when? I saw a couple of cool places in Europe such as Sardinia or Spain. Do you guys think it worth it for photography? Do you also think that May is a good period (wildlife, sun conditions etc).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

I did some snorkling in Istria, not as spectacular as the tropics or the red sea but still enough to see, but there are more spots around europe, check here:

I think May would be fine, just check the water temperature and weather forecast for the spot you pick
You might want to google some pics of the spot to get an idea what to expect (my tip for just about everything
)

Why don't you start in the Med ? Water is warm enough and if is close to your bases.
I snorkelled the 'sentier marin' of the Rayol Canadel recently just to name one I am sure there are hundreds.
Have fun.
