About:Tour de France Challenge

The Tour de France is underway and we want you to follow along as it takes us through towns and cities across France and neighbouring countries.

For 3 gruelling weeks, we are challenging all of you to help us write the guide articles for the starting and finishing towns of each stage. Travel along with the cyclists by researching these locations and writing up your findings. If you have actually been there, all the better! It will be a great accompaniment to the beautiful footage that is always shown while the Tour is on.

Prizes

For every article about a stage location with over 2000 characters added, we will put $25 into the Travellerspoint Foundation. That money will be used for loans made through Kiva, our favourite non profit organisation right now. So be sure to get these articles about stage locations up and running to ensure we donate a good chunk of cash to Kiva!

For every day that a member contributes over 1000 characters, they will also be rewarded one point towards the final classification (ok, it's more like the Green Jersey than Yellow). At the end of the Tour, we will tally up who got the most points and reward that member with a $100 accommodation voucher for use on Travellerspoint. If there are members tied on points, then we will pick a winner out of a hat.^[1]

How to Enter

The Tour de France article itself is already taking shape and can be your starting point for finding out which locations will need writing about. You can write about any of the upcoming stages - just click on one of the locations to start contributing. Contributions with over 1000 characters will be considered in the running to win the day's stage and winner's will be picked randomly. Once you have added some content, nominate your entry below. Please note the date that the entry was made as well.

The overall Yellow Jersey will be picked by a panel of expert judges. Or by one discerning Travellerspoint staff member. Or randomly. We're not yet sure.
