Returning from Chartres on the train, you come into this view of Paris. The Eiffel Tower is on the distant right and La Defense is on the distant left.

The Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero Esplanade by Beausoleil
This is probably the best view of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It's usually blocked by people selling souvenir trinkets but if you get there early enough, they haven't arrived and blocked the view yet.

Russian Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Paris by Beausoleil
Dating from 2016 and near the relatively new Branly Museum, the gold onion domes are quite a site from the Pont de l'Alma over the Seine. It is open to visitors and you can check their web site for hours. We passed it on the bus going to the Marmottan-Monet Museum.

You can see the Eiffel Tower from the Pantheon - follow the street lights by Beausoleil
We were walking home from lunch and shopping on rue Mouffetard, turned a corner and faced the Pantheon . . . and quite a few fellow tourists. This was my last photo of the day before it started pouring. I think it rained nearly every day on this particular trip. Fortunately it never rained all day on any one day and we had raincoats and umbrellas.

Leaving the Grand Palais in the rain by Beausoleil
We had visited the Petit Palais in the morning, had a great lunch and then gone to the Grand Palais in the afternoon. Now we were heading to our bus stop in the constant rain. It was a good day for museums.

Invalides and the Eiffel Tower by Beausoleil
Invalides holds the French Army Museum and the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte. King Louis XIV who built Versailles and who staged many wars in Europe in 1670 commissioned the building of Les Invalides in Paris, a military hospital for wounded soldiers and war veterans. Inside you can visit Cathédrale Saint-Louis-des-Invalides, an interesting artillery collection, the Army Museum and the tomb of Napoleon.

Walking to Invalides with a great view of the Eiffel Tower by Beausoleil
The Eiffel Tower is tall and can be seen from many places in Paris but the area around Invalides is particularly good for distant views.

Leaving Paris on the train to Chartres by Beausoleil
We took the train from Paris to Chartres one day just to escape the city for a while. It's a beautiful ride with a few stops on the way. You see fields and distant villages. Very relaxing . . .

Notre Dame du Travail built by Eiffel Tower workers by Beausoleil
You have to see the inside of this church to appreciate it. The Eiffel Tower workers used the same materials they used every day working on the tower so the vaulting and arches inside the church are all metal. This is combined with beautiful art nouveau painting in all the side chapels and some marvelous works of art including paintings and sculptures. There is a demilune painting of The Virgin and Child by Henri Taillefert; Georges Serraz has sculpted the Virgin of the Redemption (also called the Virgin of the Flowers) and Christ on the Cross and a beautiful Pieta. Michel Serraz sculpted The Creative Hand and a parish artist named Joseph Lefevre carved a wooden Notre Dame du Travail. There is also a marvelous metal sculpture, Christ in Glory by Jean-Jacques Bris.

The Eiffel Tower from Place de Catalogne near Montparnasse station by Beausoleil
We were walking back from lunch when we looked up and saw the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Since we were on our way to see Notre Dame du Travail, built by Eiffel Tower workers, it seemed appropriate.

Eiffel Tower on the right and Cathédrale de la Sainte-Trinité on the left by Beausoleil
Heading to the Alma-Marceau Metro stop, we got this great view of the Eiffel Tower and the new Russian Orthodox Cathédrale de la Sainte-Trinité across the Seine. Incredible.

The New Glass Wall Around the Eiffel Tower by Beausoleil
I don't know if it's for crowd control or construction or both, but there is now a glass wall around the Eiffel Tower. There were signs directing people to the East Entrance. It appears there are going to be many more entrances but none of the other entrances were working when we were there in May.

The Eiffel Tower from Pont d'Iéna - with souvenir sellers by Beausoleil
There seem to be more souvenir sellers everyplace in Paris this year. I've never seen so many. You expect them at the Trocadéro, but not on the bridge. When we got across the bridge, we discovered a glass wall around the base of the tower with signs directing people to go to the East Entrance. We were going to the Branly so didn't try it. We also didn't take any photos from directly under the tower though . . .

Base of the Eiffel Tower with the new glass wall by Beausoleil
When we were there in May, they had built a glass wall around the base of the tower. I suppose it's for crowd control and there also seems to be some construction. There were signs to go to the east entrance. If you look at the picture, you will notice no people in the garden just beyond the tower. That is now fenced off. You go in the East entrance where the east ticket office is and join the line there. We've never gone up the tower, preferring instead to enjoy it from below and various vantage points throughout the city.

The Eiffel Tower from Place du Trocadéro by Beausoleil
To get the tower without people, I walked to the hedge bordering the plaza and shot from there. Place du Trocadéro is the perfect place to get the whole tower in the picture. It's also a great place to get your pocket picked so be aware of your surroundings while taking those wonderful photos. We've never been bothered but have heard lots of stories. It probably helps if you look like your pocket is not worth the effort.

The Eiffel Tower from the Place du Trocadéro by Beausoleil
This is a very quiet Trocadéro. There are often demonstrations here and usually more buskers and souvenir sellers, not to mention the tourist they entertain. It was a good day for pictures since you could actually see the large plaza with the tower in the background.

Le Malakoff Restaurant near the Eiffel Tower by Beausoleil
We were walking from the Alma-Marceau Metro stop to the Eiffel Tower and lunch time arrived. We checked menus around the Place du Trocadéro and like the menu at Le Malakoff. We had a lovely lunch and walked on to the Trocadéro, the Eiffel Tower and eventually the Branly Museum. They do have Eiffel Tower views if you get the right seats.
