Weekends during high season are more fun because everything is open. The church is very old and has some lovely decoration inside.

It is the parish church of Mirepoix and important because it has the second widest nave of a gothic church in Europe. Only Girona in Spain is wider. In medieval times, the Bishop of Mirepoix was seated here and it was officially a cathedral. It was renovated at one time by Viollet-le-Duc and is still impressive with twelve side altars and much of the paint remaining.

Guingamp - look at the windows in the building beside the town hall by Beausoleil
The Guingamp Mairie (town hall) is a former Augustinian Monastery and quite beautiful. When we walked downtown, we admired it but failed to notice the building perpendicular to it. Walking back up to our car, we immediately noticed the figues in the windows of the adjacent building. Great fun!

The Basilica of Notre Dame de Bon Secours in Guingamp by Beausoleil
This is variously referred to as a basilique and a cathedral. I'm not sure if there is a bishop in residence or not. You need a bishop to have a cathedral so perhaps it is a basilica. It is the main monument in the town of Guingamp and well worth a visit.

We parked near the ferry port, entered through Porte Dinan and found a nice restaurant for lunch before walking through the Old Town section. It couldn't have been a more perfect Fall day.
