Pine Cay
Introduction
Pine Cay is a small island, part of the Turks and Caicos Islands. There are 30+ private homes on the island as well as a resort (Meridian Cay) that doubles as a clubhouse for the private homes. Pine Cay presents an amazing contrast between primitive, undeveloped, unspoiled beach and luxurious private homes and resort that provide the best of both worlds to visitors and homeowners. Pine Cay's most remarkable features include the island's natural beauty and the opportunity for complete solitude in a Caribbean paradise. There are few permanent residents. Besides the homeowners, most residents are employees of the resort who do maintenance and provide services for the tourists.
Weather
Pine Cay has a very pleasant and tropical climate with generally warm and humid weather. The seabreeze makes things relatively mild though and water is never far away. Temperatures generally average around 30 °C during the day yearround and 23 °C at night. December to May is the dry season, where July to October is the rainy season, but this generally means some showers at the end of the day instead of days of rain on end. Hurricanes are possible though from August to October.
Getting There
Pine Cay is only accessible by boat or plane. There is a simple airstrip in the center of the island, only daylight traffic is allowed.
