Volunteering

Kat and I got up extra early on Wednesday to try and beat the heat and we were in the potato patch by 7 am. Today, and probably the rest of this week's job is to harvest the potatoes, and there are a lot of them. And they are overgrown with weeds, so it's a bit of a tedious task.

Wow, thus far today it’s not already too hot to sit outside since we had a nice morning rain…gentle, enough to settle the dust and water the plants a bit. With the cooler day the kittens are playing actively both in the yard and in my house. Mama is now bulging and stays completely to herself unless it’s time to eat.

As I sit outside, work goes on all around me….Mary filling water bottles for the future plant watering; Senye and Brooks once again working on the old truck that always seems to need some repair. Neighbors doing something with a drill; children’s voices at a distance. So while it’s a bit noisy, it’s also good to have life happening around me.
