The rear side of the Ogińska Palace, Siedlce
One day in the second half of March we received a call from Maciej, my VT friend, who had received us as Ukrainian war refugees in 2022-2023. He told us that his wife Urszula and him were coming to see us. They had reserved a hotel for two nights and wanted to have a glimpse of the city on their way from Warsaw. They stayed two nights at Villa Park Hotel, which is only a quarter of an hour’s walk from us.

We met our friends at the hotel soon after they had arrived. What a great meeting it was! Maciej had reserved a table at Brofaktura Restaurant at 10 p.m. He found the place on the Internet, where it had been recommended as the most popular city pub. Thus, we enjoyed our dinner at the pub in a very busy city atmosphere.
We are grateful to Maciej and Urszula for taking us to that popular pub. It was a special dinner and a wonderful reunion.
The next day was Sunday. We took our friends to Aleksandria Park. We simply walked through the park towards the Regional Museum.
Maciej and Urszula had read about the park before and wanted to see its main sights.

Everybody like the Embossed Eagle on the entrance wall of the District Court in Court Street. I have never taken picture of it thinking it would be a state offense, but Maciej explained to me that there was no problem and I should not await any punishment for taking a picture of the Eagle.

My wife and I saw the exhibits of the Regional Museum again, but you never know if they exhibit the same ones year after year. We saw a new art exhibition and paid more attention to a canvas of Malgorzata Lada. Małgorzata Łada-Maciągowa was born in Siedlce. She was educated in Kraków. She was a full-fledged student of the Artistic Faculty. In the school year 1900/1901 she was awarded the first prize for drawing and painting. In 1903 she showed her work for the first time outside of school. She took part in the 2nd Circular Salon of the Association of Polish Artists based in Kraków. From 1907, she was already educated in Paris at the Julian Academy. The most creative period in her life was the interwar years. She created in Kraków and during numerous trips abroad. She became famous as the author of portraits and innovative nudes as well as paintings commemorating important events in Kraków. She collaborated with the Kraków Stained Glass Workshop S.G. Żeleński.

“The Highlander Lady” by Małgorzata Łada-Maciągowa (1881-1969) painted in 1902 is the oldest work among the painter's paintings in the collection of the Regional Museum in Siedlce. The painting shows a young girl dressed in a dark blue skirt, a green apron with flowers, a white shirt and a navy blue embroidered jacket. She has a green scarf with flowers on her head and a double string of red beads around her neck. The color palette consists mainly of greens and blues, earth colors, yellows, browns, ochres and white and black, with an accent on red.

Walking past the Old Theater / Visiting Kiermasz - Spring Fair - in Siedlce.
After seeing the impressive museum collection, we walked along Piłsudski Street until we reached Sikorski Square, where we visited the traditional Spring Fair called Kiermasz in Polish.
After the Spring Fair we decided to do more walking and walked four miles to Lake Mukhavka, a famous local recreation place.

We agreed to have dinner at Kochanówka Polish-Lithuanian Restaurant, located in the Old Town. We opted for some traditional Polish and Lithuanian dishes: kibiny and kartaczeasas well as deserts.
