We cannot get enough of them! I want them to come back every spring, summer, winter and fall.
In October, Sarah and Johnny made the trip once again across the pond, this time sans kids for an adult adventure weekend! Sarah and I independently picked nearly the same town to visit on the Algarve coast without even a discussion so before even starting the trip, we knew it was going to be a success.
We picked them up in Sevilla and spent half a day wandering around Huelva while the guys listened to a riveting presentation on energy efficiency initiatives at the Atlantic Copper smelter. Sarah and I had a blast being footloose and fancy free.
We did our very best to empty the local economy of all their fresh fish, rice, and vegetables but try as we might, I don’t think we even made a dent. We stayed in the town of Luz which is also a British vacation hotspot so we were able to eat English breakfast every day. Well, maybe I should rephrase that I was able to eat English breakfast everyday, the others were more reasonable about it and chose different items.

We also went to Sagres and saw the westernmost point of the European peninsula, hit up Faro for a delicious fish dinner and on the way back to Spain we stopped in a little town just on the border between Spain and Portugal hoping for one last Portuguese meal. We picked a restaurant that at first glance seemed like a suspicious burger only joint but turned out to be a little gem of a spot with everything one’s heart could desire. I am already planning my trip back.
Traveling with these two is always a barrel of laughs, good conversation, excessive eating and drinking and just comfort, like a good homemade chicken soup. Thanks for being good for our souls. Love you both, and the girls. Love you ALL.
