In its recent history, Slovenia was recognized as an independent country from Ex-Yugolslavia by the European Community and the United Nations in 1992. In 2004, it became a member of both NATO and European Union.
I visited this amazing country many times, from 1995 to 2017.
Among the great tourist attractions in the country are included: Lakes, Bled & Bohinj, and Caves, Postojna & Skocjan.
Although I prefer to travel by train, in this country, the most prefered and convenient public transportation is the bus.
During my first visits to the country, I have traveled with a Slovenian friend, who I met in 1995. In many other visits, namely to the regions close to Italy, such as Bovec, Kobarid, Tabor, Tolmin, Piran and Skocjan Caves, I have travelled with a couple of Italian friends.
By far, my favourite region in Slovenia is the Triglav National Park and, every time I visit the country, I used to stay in Stara Fuzina.
As the country is small, it is easy to make an itinerary, even if you want to travel by public transportatiom.

Lago Bohinj Lake
A great attraction in the park is Lake Bohinj, which is, in my opinion, due to wild scenery, more interesting than Lake of Bled. Challenge in the region is climbing to Triglav Peak. Winter sports are also an important attraction.

Alojamento/Accommodation
Sobe Cvetek Anica STARA FUZINA
Sempre que vou à região, alojo-me nesta casa e recomendo-a vivamente.

In this family house, rooms are very clean and comfortable, and, some of them, come with balcony. When I stayed here, my room had always balcony.
Breakfast, optional, was very good and included: bread, marmelade, honey, yogourt, milk, juice, coffee, tea, cheese, ham, bacon, eggs, fruit and cakes.
Location is perfect, and this family is very kind and helpful. Once I was in need for a transfer, on a rainy day, to the train station, which is about 5km away, and they made it without charging.
Whenever I go to the region, I stay at this house and I highly recommend it.

6. CITIES - CIDADES
LJUBLJANA - A CAPITAL
large_IMG_2326.JPG
IMG_2349.JPG
According to some autors, the city was named after an ancient city deity that the early Slavs called Laburus. Others maintain that the name derives from Latin and that the city was named after a flooding river "aluviana", or that the name derives from the word "Laubach", meaning "a swamp". Those who like the playwright and historian Anton Tomaž Linhart - are fond of the city believe that its name can only derive from the Slavic word "luba", meaning beloved. Sincerely I prefer the last theory.
Modern architecture of this city is largely influenced by Jože Plečnik, namely in the iconic Triple Bridge, the Slovenian National and University Library building, the embankments along the Ljubljanica River, the Ljubljana Central Market buildings, the Ljubljana cemetery, parks and plazas.

Dragon - The Symbol of the City
When the dragon lived in a big hole at the basement of the castle over Ljubljana, he demand from the people living in a small town under the castle, to bring him a young virgin girl once per month to eat her, or otherwise the dragon would burn the city. After a few years there were almost no young girls in the town. People living there, were desperately looking for help, so one day a young knight on a white horse came to town, and when the time came for the people to sacrifice another girl, the knight with the girl riding on a horse arrived in front of dragon's cave. After a fight betwen the dragon and the knight, the dragon's head was cut off.

COMER / TO EAT
LJUBLJANA
Gostilna Sokol - Slovenian Food - Comida eslovena
I came here along with some friends long time ago. I liked very much this restaurant for the great food, ambience and service. In the recents years I have heard its quality is poor. I have to visit it again to check.
Namaste Indian Food - Comida indiana
I came here along with a Slovenian friend, and I have to say the food was really appelative and tasty.
In my sincere opinion, this place is a good option to try Indian food. If I am looking for an Indian restaurant when in Ljubljana, I will not hesitate to come here again.

I could talk to some clients and they were very happy with the service, ambience and the quality of the food.
