Rome! What an amazing city! History and iconic sights everywhere! It was smoking hot but we walked 20,000+ steps everyday, were blown away on every corner and heartily took advantage of the water fountains found all over town.

We took a Catacombe tour that was really interesting and a bit creepy. At one point we bent down and looked up into a crevice to see a full skeleton. Also it was the only time I was not sweating all week! We snuck a couple of pictures but you were asked not to take any.

The coliseum was huge and it was pretty easy to imagine the excitement being there back in the Gladiator days. It’s pretty horrifying though learning more about what was thought to be entertainment.

Anyway, Vatican City was lovely to explore. I wish I was more enthralled with the Sistine Chapel - it’s stunning but we’ve been wowed so much it came off a little lacklustre. We found a statue of Hadrian - the Roman Emperor that has influenced so many of the places we’ve been. A few other fun pieces as well!
