Up this morning and drove a couple hours to Port Tribulation, ( not warm enough here so tried to get closer to the equator!).Port Tribulation was named by Captain Cook after his challenges navigating the Great Barrier Reef. The area is the oldest rain forest in the world ( apparently older than the Amazon). The Rain Forest and the Great Barrier Reef are the only Natural World Heritage sites that meet.

Went on two short hikes through the rain forest ( all on walk ways ) and a short climb up a tower that overlooks the forest canopy.
There are kilometres of beaches along the route that are vacant because of the presence of crocodiles. Signs along the way caution against swimming. Signage is in English and Germain. Why German? Apparently 40% of all crocodile encounters in Australia are with German tourists. So.......

Everyone said that we had to stop at the “best” ice cream stand in the world. ( I wouldn’t dispute it). They give you four flavours of ice cream from the fruit trees that grow in their orchard. This day was Wattleseed, Davidson Plum, Soursop and Coconut. They harvest 30 different tropical fruits fromArabica coffee to Passionfruit.
30 different fruits in the orchard as well as non- stinging bees. Early in the week they found a non- venomous, but aggressive snake curled up in the kitchen. Got a bit of an education about venomous creatures. Snakes in trees - non-venomous; spiders above ground - non- venomous.
