The Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero Esplanade by Beausoleil

This is probably the best view of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It's usually blocked by people selling souvenir trinkets but if you get there early enough, they haven't arrived and blocked the view yet.

Eglise Saint-Sulpice in Paris - You see Delacroix as you enter and exit by Beausoleil

We were in Saint Sulpice this time for an afternoon organ recital. They alternate between 10 AM and 4 PM recitals on alternate Sundays. Times change so it's a good idea to check their web site before planning to attend. The last time we were there, the recital was after the 11 o'clock Mass on Sundays. The organ is amazing though so you do want to attend at least one recital there. Also don't miss the marvelous Delacroix in the chapel on your right as you enter the church. The gnomon that was featured in the movie, The Da Vinci Code is also in this church.

Hotel de Ville - Paris - All set for the 2024 Olympics by Beausoleil

There was a special exhibit in the Hotel de Ville for Olympics visitors. We were a month ahead of schedule but it was open so we visited it. It wasn't a large exhibit but was informative and fun.

Notre Dame de Paris - the New Spire by Beausoleil

We were in Paris just after the horrible fire at Notre Dame so were curious to see what had been done in the five years since. They had just replaced the spire and the Cathedral is supposed to open to the public this coming December. No one thought they could do it in five years, but it seems they have succeeded. It is currently surrounded by construction equipment but they have a wonderful photo exhibit out front that has photographs of all the workers. It has everyone from the carpenters, sculptors, masons, equipment operators, art restorers, everyone . . . they all deserve a tremendous amount of credit.

Le Bouillon Racine at 3 rue Racine in Paris - the bar by Beausoleil

The sign says Bouillon Camille Chartier but it is historic. The actual name on the menu is Le Bouillon Racine. It has changed hands and names several times. At the turn of the 20th century Paris had more than 250 bouillons which were started to offer working men a chance for a good meal at a reasonable price. They had almost disappeared by the early 21st century but have been brought back by tourism and practicality. New ones are opening regularly and there are at least a dozen. We have eaten in the two original ones, Bouillon Chartier and Bouillon Racine. We loved both but must admit Le Racine was more elegant. The other was probably more authentic. In Bouillon Chartier a few years ago we were seated at a table for eight and had the fun of meeting others at our table. Service and food were very good in both and prices reasonable.

The Hôtel de la Marine on Place de la Concorde - Paris by Beausoleil

Former navy headquarters, the The Hôtel de la Marine was turned into a museum in 2015 and is worthy of a visit. The hours are a little odd so check their web site before you visit to make sure they are open.

Bibliothèque Nationale de France - Richelieu - main reading room by Beausoleil

The Bibliothèque Nationale de France - Richelieu is across the street from Le Grand Colbert Brasserie and we saw an advertisement on their fence for an exhibit. Took a chance and went in to ask about it and it sounded interesting so we entered. There were marvelous 14th and 15th century copies of medieval manuscripts and photos were allowed. The highlight for me was the window into the actual library reading room. It is magnificent, four stories high packed with books and even better, packed with people reading them.
