Eglise Saint-Sulpice in Paris - You see Delacroix as you enter and exit by Beausoleil
We were in Saint Sulpice this time for an afternoon organ recital. They alternate between 10 AM and 4 PM recitals on alternate Sundays. Times change so it's a good idea to check their web site before planning to attend. The last time we were there, the recital was after the 11 o'clock Mass on Sundays. The organ is amazing though so you do want to attend at least one recital there. Also don't miss the marvelous Delacroix in the chapel on your right as you enter the church. The gnomon that was featured in the movie, The Da Vinci Code is also in this church.

The First Communion Procession with all age groups from the tiny altar boy to an aging priest by Beausoleil
We happened into Saint Sulpice on the day they were having a First Communion. This involved a magnificent procession with multiple priests, deacons, altar servers of all ages and the first communicants of all ages. All this was accompanied by the magnificent organ in Saint Sulpice that would lend gravity to any service. For once I pulled out my camera and took photos in church during a service . . . accompanied by many proud parents.

Eglise Saint Sulpice in Paris - waiting for the recital to start by Beausoleil
Saint Sulpice has one of the most magnificent organs in Paris and we took full advantage of living nearby for a month. We always arrived at concerts and recitals early so we could get good seats. Two of the concerts had the advantage of a large-screen television in the front of the church so you could actually see the organist while he performed. That was wonderful.
