Creative Commons

Creative Commons is the copyright license that applies to Travellerspoint's wiki[1]

But what is Creative Commons? Here's the way the Creative Commons website explains it.

Creative Commons provides free tools that let authors, scientists, artists, and educators easily mark their creative work with the freedoms they want it to carry. You can use CC to change your copyright terms from "All Rights Reserved" to "Some Rights Reserved.

Basically, it means that works licensed under a Creative Commons license can be used/copied on other sites, provided some very simple principles are followed. These principles differ, depending on which Creative Commons license has been chosen. Travellerspoint has decided that its wiki content will be covered by the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license, which basically means you are free to copy, distribute and/or remix the wiki content, provided you attribute the work back to Travellerspoint (a clickable link to the page where you got the information from is sufficient) and share it under the same, similar or compatible license.

About Creative Commons on Travellerspoint

As explained below[1], not all of Travellerspoint is Creative Commons. So if you go to an area of Travellerspoint that is not part of the wiki (ie. the url does not start with https://www.travellerspoint.com/guide/...), there are different rules relating to that area of the site. Simple enough?

It does get a little more complicated, unfortunately. Some things which are on wiki pages (those that start with https://www.travellerspoint.com/guide/..) are copyrighted. These are clearly indicated with the copyright symbol (c). A good example is most photos that are a part of the wiki. The copyright for these is owned by the member that has taken/uploaded the image. It is Travellerspoint's policy not to claim any kind of copyright over personal member content.

It is important that everyone respects these copyrighted works and does not copy these without proper consent from the copyright holder!
