The Arabian Peninsula is part of the Middle East. Although historically and geographically referring to a much larger area, politically the Arabian Peninsula is considered to contain at least the Arab Gulf States of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Together they form The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), also known as the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (CCASG). Geographically though, it also includes Yemen, Jordan, Israel, Palestine and parts of Iraq and Syria.

Geography

The Arabian Peninsula forms a 'bridge' between Europe, Africa and Asia. The borders are formed by the Red Sea, Gulf of Aqaba, Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz on the western, southern and eastern part. In the north, the line is less clear but generally is considered to include parts of Iraq and Syria which end at the Zagros Mountain Range on the border with Iraq and Iran.
